Daryl Burkhard lives with a fine (but occasionally ankle-biting) dog, Mattie. Mattie assists with Daryl’s research into Western history, mules, bugs, railroads, folktales, and . . . whatever comes next. Formerly a CPA, Daryl left the adventure-filled world of accounting for a career as a conservation biologist before being ambushed by a longstanding love of good stories and the need, therefore, to turn life upside down and write them. Daryl also enjoys horses, travel (anywhere!), and painting.
